Free Tools & Generators
A workshop for anyone building a fantasy world — a coat of arms forge that hands you a PNG and an SVG, five name generators, and a quiz or two. All free, all instant, none of them asking who you are.
Coat of arms generator
Design a crest and download it as a PNG or an SVG. Writes the blazon for you.
House name generator
Dynasty names that sound four hundred years old.
Castle name generator
Keeps, holdfasts, watchtowers and the ruin nobody goes near.
Lord & lady name generator
Given names, houses, epithets and the full formal style.
House words generator
Mottoes short enough to shout and grim enough to mean it.
Dragon name generator
Built from syllables, so nothing it gives you is anybody else's dragon.
Which dragon would you ride?
Twelve questions, eight dragons, scored in your browser.
Which Great House are you?
The original quiz — twenty questions and a verdict written fresh for you.
Why a strategy game runs a heraldry workshop
Because the interesting half of a fantasy world is the part you make yourself, and almost nobody gets to. You can read a hundred pages of somebody else's lore without once being asked what your house is called. Ten seconds with a crest maker and you have an opinion about the colour of your own field, which is a different and much stickier kind of interest.
So these are not demos and they are not gated. There is no account, no email capture, no "sign in to download", and no watermark on anything you take away. If you never install the game, that is entirely fine — the tools were worth building anyway.
They work with the network off
Every tool here runs entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type, click or design is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be sent: there is no server behind these pages, no analytics on them, and no third-party script of any kind. Load one on a train and it keeps working when the signal goes.
That is also why nothing can be saved for you between visits, which is the honest trade. Download what you make.
One world underneath all of them
The tools share vocabulary with the strategy game this site belongs to, and share it literally — the heraldry forge's eight tinctures, six divisions and twelve charges are read out of the game's own code when these pages are built, not copied into them, so a crest composed here is a legal design in there. The castle generator is required to be able to spell every seat the game's nine Great Houses hold. The dragon quiz's eight outcomes are the eight aspects the game's dragon eggs actually come in.
None of which you need to care about to use them. It just means the house you roll, the castle you roll it, the words you give it and the crest you draw for it will all sound like they came from the same place — which is the part of world-building that is genuinely hard.
Can I use what these tools make?
Yes — for anything, including commercial work, with no permission and no credit required. Short strings like a name or a two-word motto are not the kind of thing anyone can own, and the crest you compose is your composition, not ours. Take it to a novel, a tabletop campaign, a stream overlay, a band, a boat, a business card.
We ask for exactly nothing in return: no account, no email, no sign-up, no watermark. Nothing you type or click here is sent anywhere — every one of these tools runs entirely inside your own browser, so there is no server that could keep your design even if it wanted to. If you want to tell somebody where it came from, a link back is kind, but it is not a condition.
Something missing?
The list is short on purpose and will get longer. If there is a generator you keep wanting and cannot find, the community forum is open to read without an account, and the fastest route to whoever builds these is the Discord user lordking_uhtred.
