Before anyone says it cannot be done, fetch me three horses, a lantern, and the nearest idiot. I rode alone out of ENVY six days ago; the road felt less like a border than a seam between universes, and I still cannot decide whether Walter crossed it or the Observers stitched it there.

Hall, did Walter choose the wrong universe, or did the Observers choose him? I lean toward the Observers; people who act leave tracks, and watchers always arrive before anyone has begun carrying the problem.
