Fringe works for me when Walter’s humor sits beside the Observer horror, not over it — the joke gives the dread a sharper edge. Three days ago, I said I was done with Ser Bonifer Hasty, then swore my sword to [ENVY], expecting the choice to feel clean.
It didn’t — there’s still the question of walls or another rally, and you know how little a fresh banner can settle. The cost was certainty, not the sword.
