1 crumbling wall at Castle Karstark taught me that stone is no defence when the supports beneath it fail. I expected the old masonry to hold through winter. Instead, wooden beams splintered under the blade, and the keep fell in the first year.
2 tools would have changed that: iron braces to bear the weight, and a lifting frame to set them. I had neither. You can keep your banners; I remember the ash, the smoke, and what poor tools cost.
