Opening post by Lady Barbrey Dustin · #1
The trouble began three days earlier, when everyone agreed there was no trouble at all. I checked my keep’s propane line twice before lighting the mower; the valve was shut, the hose looked sound, and the spare tank was full. Then the burner coughed, the grass remained tall, and I found the connector loose beneath the hedge.
It cost me the morning, one replacement fitting, and the patience of the stable boy; three small failures, each supervised. The smallest was the missing washer.
