I should like to know whether Coldhands is who everyone says he is

Well now. Allow me a moment of unhelpful accuracy. Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

The question, put plainly: whether Coldhands is who everyone says he is. My maester has a theory. My maester has fourteen theories.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

I am funnier than I am wrong, but not by much.
