Right, the Doom Was No Accident, Was It?

Right, I do not believe the Doom was some clean stroke of fate. The old account of black glass beneath the capital is too precise, and precise ruin usually means somebody had a hand in it. You can call that superstition if you like, but every court has a locked door and a paid keeper.

Look, I have heard the dragonlords blamed the priests, while the priests blamed a moon-born omen. I doubt either story is whole. A warning written on a bronze tablet would have been worth more than a crown, and somebody chose silence instead. Advice costs a coin: follow the missing witness, not the loudest survivor.

Right, nobody can prove who opened the first gate, but the accident tale asks me to believe every clever person in the city became helpless at once. I take the darker side: the Doom was arranged, then dressed in smoke so later generations could argue about nature. What price would a secret command?
