If you leave an alliance, tell its officers first, then leave before changing banners or taking allies into danger. I rode out of [SITH] today after Lady Barbrey Dustin publicly broke with me... three days is a short marriage, but silence makes a small split look like treason.
Should allies wait a day before answering a public break? I lean no: clear words beat a quiet grudge, and everyone can plan around them.
