Settle an argument — whether Varys serves anyone but Varys

This will not help anybody take a seat, and I am posting it anyway. Winter nights are long and the board is quiet.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether Varys serves anyone but Varys. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

It matters less than the harvest, and I will still be arguing about it at midwinter.
