Not the obvious conquerors — anyone can say the famous ones. I mean temperament: who from the actual past had the patience for the long build, the nerve for the war window, and the pettiness for alliance politics? Argue the fit, not just the fame.
Bonus round: who would be terrible at it? History has some magnificent candidates for tilting at the first rally that waves at them.
