The record is unambiguous on this. My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: why the Wall was really built, and against what. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

The record will still say this next season. Consult the ledger before the sword.
