How it works, and what it does not do
One file of titles and descriptions is fetched once, and every keystroke after that is matched in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — there is no search server here to send it to, and the site's content policy would not let a page call one.
It matches titles and descriptions, not full text, which is an honest limit rather than a bug: indexing the body of 1,400 pages would be a multi-megabyte download to answer a question the title usually answers. If you know the number you want, the database is where the numbers are.
This index is generated from the site's own pages at build time — their titles, their descriptions and their links. Nothing on it is typed by hand, so a page that is renamed or removed is renamed or removed here too.
