Whose Spy Would You Be?
Almost nobody who sells information thinks of themselves as a spy. They think of themselves as a septon, a clerk, a landlord, a woman who does the laundry for four households. Nine questions about what you notice and who you would tell — and every one of these six answers is a job somebody holds down.
Listening at the door…
How it works
Nine questions, four answers apiece, drawn from a bigger bank so a retake genuinely differs. They are about ordinary observation rather than espionage: what you register when you walk into a room, whether you can hold a piece of news for a week, what you would do with something that would ruin somebody you dislike, and who — if anyone — you would tell first. Nobody in this quiz is a professional.
None of it goes anywhere. There is no account, no request, no storage and no delay; the questions were delivered with the page, which is also why it keeps working offline.
The six people you could be
- The Little Birds — the network of children nobody looks at twice, and the person who feeds them.
- The Ledger-Keeper — you would notice it in the accounts before anybody noticed it in the world.
- The Maester's Raven — every letter in and out of the castle passes a desk. Yours.
- The Confessional — people tell a septon things. You would never repeat them, except once.
- The Innkeeper — you sell beds and beer and you have simply never stopped listening.
- Nobody's — you sell to all of them and belong to none, and it will end badly and profitably.
Why information is a temperament, not a skill
The hard part of intelligence work has never been collecting. Almost everything worth knowing is said out loud by somebody who does not think it matters, in front of somebody they have decided is furniture. The hard parts are the two nobody talks about: refusing to believe the exciting version, and holding a thing without spending it. Most people cannot do the second at all — the pressure to be the one who knows is enormous, and it is what turns a good source into a rumour. The questions here are built around those two, which is why several of them look like they are about patience.
Sharing your verdict
Your answer goes into the page address as soon as you have it, so the link opens on your card for whoever gets sent it, with nothing to sign up to. A downloadable image of the same card is drawn in the page for the places a picture travels better.
This is fan-made, and unofficial
This quiz is about the informants of a fictional kingdom. It is a free, unofficial fan quiz — an unofficial fan tribute, made for fun. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to George R. R. Martin, HBO, or any official Game of Thrones property.
No character, line or scene from any book or television series appears here; the six roles and every question were written for this page. Iron Realms — the strategy game the rest of this site is about — is an original fantasy world with its own map, its own houses and its own art, and has no connection to Westeros. This corner is kept separate on purpose, and nothing in it should be read as suggesting otherwise.
Where the rest of them are
The council quiz is the view from the other end of the same network, if you would rather be receiving the reports. The Westeros — ASOIAF & Game of Thrones section lists every quiz and tool in this wing, and the fan tributes hub has the rest of the corner. If you would rather play something than answer questions, Iron Realms is free and runs in a browser tab.
