How it works

Twelve questions, four answers each. Every answer pulls a little toward two or three of the eight regions rather than pointing at exactly one, so the result comes out of the whole run instead of one give-away question. At the end the totals are compared, the highest wins, and you are told which region came second and by how much.

Your answers are not sent anywhere. No server scores them and there is no account to make — the scoring happens in your own browser, and what you answered never leaves it. What you get at the end is a link with your twelve answers packed into a short code, which is how a friend opening it sees exactly the result you saw.

The eight regions you can be sorted into

• The North — cold, enormous, and the furthest from the throne of anywhere that still answers it. For people who wait well and keep promises past their expiry date.
• The Riverlands — green, rich, and unlucky enough to sit where every army wants to walk. For rebuilders and people who read the weather early.
• The Vale — mountains, snowmelt, and a gate that opens slowly. For those who hold a line whether or not anyone is watching.
• The Iron Islands — hard rock in a hard sea, with more ships than fields. For the blunt, the self-reliant and the permanently restless.
• The Westerlands — gold under the hills and a very clear sense of what things cost. For the strategists who never need to raise their voice.
• The Reach — orchards, rivers and more feast days than anywhere else. For those who know most problems shrink once people are fed.
• The Stormlands — cliffs, rain off the narrow sea, and the weather arriving first. For anyone whose instinct is to plant their feet.
• Dorne — sand, sun and mountain passes; the last to bend, and on its own terms. For the patient, the sharp and the ungovernable.

Sharing your result

When the quiz finishes, the address in your browser changes to a link that carries your answers. Copy it with the button, or straight out of the address bar — either way, whoever opens it lands on your region with your reading, and can take the twelve questions themselves from the same page. No screenshot required, and nobody has to sign up to see what you got.
