What Would You Trade at the Crossroads?
Everybody says they would refuse. Almost nobody is asked properly — not everyone gets a demon at a crossroads offering ten years and a kiss to close it. Nine questions work out what your price actually is, who it is for, and what you would tell yourself afterwards.

How it works
Nine questions, four answers each, drawn from a bank larger than nine, scored entirely in your own browser. No account, and no answer of yours leaving the page. It works with the network switched off because everything it needs was already there when it loaded.
The six answers
- Nothing at all — you would refuse, and you would keep refusing at the point where refusing costs somebody else. Closer to Sam Winchester's instinct than his brother's.
- For one person — there is exactly one name, and you have known it the whole time. This is the deal Dean Winchester actually made, and the one John Winchester made before him — the same trade running down a family line.
- For time — not a life, just longer. Enough to finish, or to say it properly.
- For the answer — you would trade for knowing, which frightens people who have never wanted to know badly enough.
- For someone who never finds out — the deal made quietly, so nobody has to carry it but you.
- And then break it — you would shake on it fully intending to find the loophole by morning, the way Rowena MacLeod or Crowley himself would read every contract for the seam before the ink was dry.
Why there is no good outcome here
Most sorting quizzes hand back a compliment. This one does not, and that is the point of it — every one of these six is a real position with a real cost, including refusing, which is the one people assume is free. A crossroads bargain is only interesting if the price is genuinely a price, the way the show's own dealmakers — Crowley chief among them, before him a nameless demon at a dark junction with a black dog's price attached — never once offered anything for nothing. The questions are written to make each answer expensive and none of them cowardly.

- A crossroads demon is summoned by burying a specific set of items at a literal crossroads. It grants a wish in exchange for the person's soul, which is collected at the end of the term by hellhounds. Dean Winchester makes one of the most consequential of these deals in the show to bring Sam back.
- How long is a crossroads deal in Supernatural?
- Ten years is presented as the standard term, with the soul collected at the end of it. Shorter terms appear when a demon wants leverage rather than a fair trade — Dean's own deal is set at a single year precisely because the demon knows he will take it anyway.
- Are crossroads deals based on real folklore?
- The crossroads bargain is genuine American folklore and predates the show by a long way, with older European roots behind that. What the show adds is the specific machinery — the ten-year term, the hellhounds, the sealing kiss — which is invention rather than tradition.
