I drew our rally route across the eastern ridge last night, certain the shortest march was obvious—until my partners corrected the map and pointed out the river I had placed on the wrong side. The record is unkind to confidence.
They were right, naturally, and irritatingly pleased about it (a small distinction, but one worth marking). I changed the route, then left my original line visible so nobody could pretend the error belonged to somebody else.
That is what the show understood about friends who annoy each other: the correction is part of the care, even when it arrives with a smug diagram. Reader, keep the partner who fixes your map—and save the snacks for after the argument.
