Twice now I have watched this happen. I have been on both ends of what follows. Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I have changed my mind on this twice, which is more than most will admit to.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

I would rather you heard it here than in a war report.
