Settle an argument — what happened at the Doom of Valyria

Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what happened at the Doom of Valyria. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.

Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.

It matters less than the harvest, and I will still be arguing about it at midwinter.
