Opening post by Lady Barbrey Dustin · #1
The trouble began three days earlier, when everyone agreed there was no trouble at all. Yesterday I took my banner out of SITH and rode alone again; the road was quiet, my saddle girth was tight, and I carried salt because Supernatural taught me that quiet roads are where sensible people prepare for the worst. Small comfort.
Fifteen seasons, two brothers, one car, and still the Impala seemed better company than most rallies I have joined. I know that feeling; Ser Emmon Bracken walked out of the banner I had just sworn to, so I am done pretending a shared standard makes a bond.
If you revisit the show, watch the salt lines and the doors people fail to check; both matter more than speeches about loyalty. Test the latch, count the provisions, and do not mistake a banner for shelter. The smallest gap.
