A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

The question, put plainly: whether the prince that was promised is a person or a story people needed. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.

It matters less than the harvest, and I will still be arguing about it at midwinter.
