i expected the gatehouse stew to simmer while i closed the gates until the host was fit to fight. instead, the fire caught the bottom before anyone arrived, and the whole keep smelled of scorched onions...
you can have the recipe when i recover the pot. i lost the evening’s rations, the pot, and whatever remained of my patience.
