Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.
Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Faceless Men are really for. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.
There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.
It matters less than the harvest, and I will still be arguing about it at midwinter.
