Thirty years of this and the same mistake every spring. My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.

The question, put plainly: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

Do it properly the first time. I did not.
